Some of you know Killer & Sparkle, two regular hikers on the Butte who are just great people and a lot of fun to be around. Their real names are Dick & Jan Fischer. Anyway, I needed some Butte photos and so I asked Killer to take some for me because I know he is an excellent photographer. Killer is also extremely creative and he had a better idea. He would like to have people show up with their cameras on Saturday, Nov. 9th, at 1:30. People with all photography skill levels are welcome. Just bring your
camera and the group will figure out how to proceed. The idea is to get out hiking with the goal of taking some pictures. If you have ever done this, you know it changes the entire hike because you are seeing things you would have never seen without the camera in hand. It sounds like a lot of fun and I know Carol and I will be there even though we are not very skilled when it comes to photography.
So it will be real informal and it will also help Pilot Butte in a big way. If PBSS is in need of good photos of the Butte, you know others are as well. So we decided to call a professional photographer we know who hikes the Butte regularly with his wife Nancy. John Alexander of Alexander's Photography will help out with a little photo contest. He will set up a process to select the top 10 photos from the day and we'll put them up on a special web page to give the photographers some recognition. John gave me some details about how this might work. The plan is to have some brief written instructions available when people show up. This is mainly a way to add a little extra fun to what should already be a fun afternoon.
This is yet another example of Pilot Butte at its finest. I ask someone to take some photos and, before you know it, a little Butte happening is born. We at PBSS hope everyone who shows up has a great time.
